Wine

Mombo's philosophy toward our wine list is quite basic; focus on 90+ rated selections and then mix it up a bit with some great little-known gems that our guests may not have previously experienced. You'll find bottles from all the world's major grape-growing regions in our wine cellar. We endeavor to provide wine that will compliment a guest's meal and enhance the dining experience.  As our menu changes so does our wine selection.

Here's a peak!

Mombo’s showcase selection:

Tiamo & Tortoise Creek Vineyard

Tiamo means “I LOVE YOU” in Italian. Melvyn & Jane Master have been together since they were 12 & 13 years old and married 7 years later. They have been producing wine since the 1970’s. Their Tiamo wines are all from organic Italian grapes.

Tortoise Creek was named after their home in France called LeRiseau de Tortue. Most of the production of Tortoise Creek wines come from sustainably grown vineyards with no pesticides used.
Mel & Janie were awarded the Silver Spoon award from Food Arts Magazine in 2006 for their services to the wine and food industry. Mel also co-authored the first major work on the Cotes du Rhone in the 1970’s and became one of the foremost authorities on the wines from the Rhone and Southern France.

You might also see them here at Mombo on any given night, just ask us if they are here.

Tiamo "Pinot Grigio" 2009 - Veneto, Italy
Light straw yellow color. Fresh and rich fruity aromas of apple and pear with a hint of citrus fruit that fade into the floral bouquet.
Tiamo "Chianti" 2009 - Chaniti DOCG, Italy
Ruby red with garnet tones. Intense, fruity with persistent aromas of spices and licorice. Full with good acidity and balanced tannins. 100% organic
Tortoise Creek "Pinot Noir" 2008 - Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Our Pinot Noir "Les Oliviers" is less "jammy" than its Californian cousins. It has lovely aromas of violets and shows ripe raspberry characteristics on the palate. "Les Oliviers" refers to the olive trees that surround the vineyards that produce our Pinot Noir.
Tortoise Creek "Merlot" 2009 - Languedoc-Roussillon, France
No oak was used and the wine was bottled without filtration. The Merlot is firm in the mouth with dark cherry, plum and spice notes. It has a lasting finish with hints of dried blackberries.
